Prior to that she spent 12 years in the United States Military, where she was exposed to a myriad of exciting and challenging situations. Through these experiences she developed superb organizational skills, creative approaches to problem solving, and was able to work with amazingly diverse groups of people. Often, the procedures for getting things done through military channels were almost non-existent, and Laurie always created systems, processes, and forms for submitting paperwork or getting things done more effectively. She also became adept at meeting tight deadlines and taking care of little details without losing sight of the big picture.
