Meet Neela Woodard, Founder & Principal of Neela Woodard Design in West Orange, NJ

Passion and talent breed excellence; persistence and finesse shape a mold.  For Neela Woodard, these elements – plus 15 years of experience in creative services and a natural inclination towards aesthetics – have helped to develop her career as one of the Tri-State Area’s most promising young interior designers. 

After a fast-track career with some of New York’s most prominent publishing houses, Neela Woodard branched out in 2007 as proprietor of her boutique firm: Neela Woodard Design. As an interior decorator, Neela focuses on all aspects of decorating, from redesigning kitchens to converting dining rooms to playrooms; sprucing up offices and much more.

What sets Neela apart from others? Neela does not shy away from hard work but in fact welcomes a challenge. While she could have stayed and been comfortable in her profession in publishing, she made the decision to start from the ground up once again and pursue her true passion in the field of interior design.

Neela’s firm caters to individuals and businesses throughout New Jersey, New York and Connecticut.  Neela has designed a variety of rooms from kitchens and offices to successfully turning a dining room into a child’s playroom.

“By utilizing a small firm,” she says, “a client can expect personable, one-on-one attention that rarely exists within larger design or construction firms.”  In addition to this added layer of customer service, Neela stays involved from start to finish with the firm’s projects, beginning with consultation and innovation and ending with post-project follow up. Neela hand-picks materials from exclusive New York suppliers and local vintage shops alike to satisfy the client’s custom design requests.  Her layouts are often described as clean, crisp and functional, interweaving traditional pieces with modern color palettes, textures and fabrics to create a look that’s both contemporary and unique for each client.

Prior to beginning a career in interior design Neela worked in publishing for 10 years. Neela worked for design firms Michael Foster Designs, Pappas Miron Design and ToCar Inc. before launching her own company. In addition to running an interior design firm she still finds time to be a great wife and mother to husband Jeb, and one year old son Finn.
