As small business owners increasingly rely on technology to be more efficient and profitable, a recent survey by small business online payroll provider SurePayroll reveals some of their favorite tech tools. Seven in 10 small business owners say they are changing the way they do business for a more technology-based marketplace, and four out of five say they are leveraging mobile technology.
Topping the list of favorite small business tech tools were Dropbox and Google Drive for online storage and organization; Salesforce for Customer Relationship Management and Constant Contact for email marketing. “Small business owners are getting smarter when it comes to technology,” said SurePayroll Vice President of Marketing Scott Brandt. “They’re using it to scale and become more profitable, using less resources and spending less money.”
Business owners appear to be using their tech savvy to increase profitability, as SurePayroll survey data shows 62 percent of small businesses were profitable in the first half of 2014 and 77 percent expect to be profitable in the second half.
“It’s a combination of a lot of factors, including increased marketing and leaner staffs that have led to improved small business profitability. But certainly technology is helping with those things,” Brandt said. “Small business owners really owe it to themselves and their customers to stay on top of the tools that are available – some are becoming a part of our everyday life already, but there are more coming constantly.”
