Interview with Bea Kunz of Sage Hill Farms
Tell us about your business.
Sage Hill Farms is a sustainable farm project started in 2003.
Our products are herbs and herbal fares such as seasonings, blended teas and herbal tisanes.
Our purpose is to educate on the benefits of using herbs in your daily life, and to supply a product that is healthy, tasty, and beneficial.
Our target audience covers a wide range , from the young mother just starting a family to the elderly who are searching for better nutritional avenues.
Please tell us what being a business owner means to you and why you became an entrepreneur in the first place?
I have been a business owner for more than 3 decades. Then and now it is all about being in control of my time, my talents, and my choices.
As with most people I work to make a profit, an income that provides the life style I enjoy .
Being able to make business and personal work together and produce a successful outcome is both a challenge and a reward.
What or who has been your greatest influence in business and why?
From my 5th grade teacher, my parents, and my children, I’ve drawn inspiration, courage, and motivation. I’m grateful,
What would you say is your greatest professional accomplishment to date?
Starting a new business at the age of retirement, bringing it to a successful “now” and knowing the best is yet to be.
What’s the best advice you have received in business that you wish to pass on to our readers?
Know what you want, know your capabilities of being able to attaine those wants, and being willing to commit to the long haul .
What one thing have you learned as a small business owner that has served you well over the years?
Just how precious my customers are. Without a doubt, customers are the life of a small business.
When you lose a customer in a small business you don’t always have one waiting to fill that spot as a bigger business would.
Are there any resources or tools you’d like to share with other small business owners that have helped you succeed?
Ones local chamber is always a good place to participate.
I think finding groups or individuals that relate to ones business in some special way can serve many purposes.
A good tax attorney, and a good investment advisor is a must.
And we should never underestimate the power and usefulness of a trusted mentor.
What is Number One Business Goal you plan to accomplish over the next year?
In two words…public speaking.
I’ve also started my first e-book and I intend to make it an exceptional addition to my business.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
If you have a passion, work it. If you don’t have a passion, find one.
Life without a passion is a wasted life in the bigger scheme of things.
