Interview with Sherry Lynn Simoes, Founder and President of Women of Today Inc.

Tell us about your business.
Women of Today is a professional networking organization that helps business women to market their businesses professionally and affordably and learn to network for success through our website, joint events and our magazine, Women of Today Magazine.

Please tell us what being a business owner means to you and why you became an entrepreneur in the first place?
I founded Women of Today because I have a strong desire to see women succeed in marketing their business. Being a business owner is a big challenge and takes an amazing amount of work, but when I see results coming from the fruit of my efforts there is a wonderful sense of accomplishment.

What or who has been your greatest influence in business and why?
My greatest influence has been my husband.

What would you say is your greatest professional accomplishment to date?
Finishing my book, Networking for Women Made Easy had been my greatest accomplishment as it takes all I have seen and learned from running WOT and shares it with business women around the globe who have a desire to learn to network and get results.

What’s the best advice you have received in business that you wish to pass on to our readers?
Be accountable for your word. Life is busy and it is easy to promise things because you want to make people happy. Do not promise anything you cannot deliver.

What one thing have you learned as a small business owner that has served you well over the years?
Take the time to learn how to be organized if this is something that does not come natural to you! Hire a professional Organizer and find the right tools for you!

Are there any resources or tools you’d like to share with other small business owners that have helped you succeed?

What is Number One Business Goal you plan to accomplish over the next year?
My number one goal is to launch my new Joint Marketing Venture for business women around the globe.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
If there is one thing you can make an effort to do on a regular basis to market your business choose networking! It is a powerful way to connect with other women and grow your business. The power of referrals when you have the proper relationships is amazing! Networking is in my opinion the most important aspect of marketing your business!
