Estroven Supports The Avon Foundation for Women to Raise Funds for Research and Access to Care
Every three minutes, a woman is diagnosed with breast cancer in this country, creating an abundant need to do more to find a cure. Estroven, the safe multi-symptom menopause relief solution, is inviting women across the country to band together during National Breast Cancer Awareness Month by “Sleeping Pink” – hosting pink-themed parties – to raise much-needed funds for the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer series, a project of the Avon Foundation for Women that supports finding a cure for breast cancer and advancing access to care for all.
For many women, menopause and breast cancer loom large as health concerns. Too often they experience both concurrently: menopause-aged women are at much greater risk for breast cancer than many of their pre-menopausal peers and a women’s risk of breast cancer triples from her thirties to her forties, and quintuples from her thirties to fifties. In reference to these alarming statistics, supporting the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer allows Estroven to continue their focus on women’s health and provide support to an organization focused on breast cancer research and prevention.
The two issues have profound effects on women’s lives. “One out of three women in the U.S. suffer from peri-menopause and menopause symptoms, and while many stages of a woman’s life are emotional, menopause is particularly tumultuous with women often surprised by and unprepared to deal with the multitude, severity and longevity of both physical and emotional symptoms they experience,” says April Mills, Senior Brand manager of Estroven.1 “And with such a staggering number of menopause-aged women in our country who are also touched by breast cancer, we felt it was an important time to show solidarity with our sisters in arms and support an organization where we can make a real difference in helping women feel like themselves again.”
Like Estroven, the Avon Foundation is focused on improving the lives of women. The Avon Walk for Breast Cancer is their largest fundraising event and Estroven’s donation will help support a comprehensive network of programs and services dedicated to serving breast cancer patients and their families through five areas of the breast cancer cause: awareness and education, screening and diagnosis, access to treatment, support services and scientific research.
During the month of October, Estroven will provide women with the necessary tools to host a Sleep Pink-themed party on SleepPink.com. The site will allow party hosts to upload photographs of their events, and for every photo, the company will pledge $100 to benefit the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer.^ It will also provide information to help organize the Sleep Pink parties including downloadable invitations, menopause-friendly drink and food recipe suggestions, as well as décor and entertainment ideas.
