Tell us about your business. . .
My business is called Wealth Building Concierge. I help professional women build wealth through real estate investing.
Please tell us what being a business owner means to you and why you became an entrepreneur in the first place?
I always wanted to craft my life by design. The work I wanted to do, the hours, the mission, the vision, and the amount of money I could make. Only entrepreneurs and business owners get those types of freedoms. Creating my business was like playing on a playground. I got and still get to define my world every day. I always wanted to support other women and grow financially free, so I combined them both.
What or who has been your greatest influence in business and why?
My greatest influence has been myself. My courage to stick with it when it gets challenging and my passion to live my dreams out to the fullest. There are so many people who have inspired me, but without building up myself, I would not have come this far. Also, it is so hard for women to praise themselves. It is deemed as pretentious or inauthentic. I say that I have earned praise, especially from myself.
What would you say is your greatest professional accomplishment to date?
My greatest professional accomplishment was completing my book, The Millionairess Mentality: A Professional Woman’s Guide to Building Wealth through Real Estate. Eighty-one percent of people say they have a book in them, but only three percent ever write the book. I am proud to share my knowledge and that my book will live beyond my life.
What’s the best advice you have received in business that you wish to pass on to our readers?
One of my favorite quotes is by Oprah Winfrey, “When you undervalue what you do, the world will undervalue who you are.” It takes a lot of courage to be an entrepreneur and most of us don’t see success overnight. There are a lot of times we need to stand for what we are creating in the world. It is a direct reflection of who we are. Each woman needs to take pride in herself, her vision, and her journey. Even when others don’t yet see her, she must stand for herself and never undervalue the quality and magic of who she is.
What have been the most effective marketing initiatives or programs you have used to promote your business?
I love email because you can nurture people and they can get to know you well over time. Sometimes it feels like you are bothering people because you are constantly sending them messages. If you focus on value, they learn to appreciate the content and you! I have also loved writing my book. It is a compilation of what I believe about women and growing wealth with a plan of action through real estate to reach your goals.
What one thing have you learned as a small business owner that has served you well over the years?
It is critical to be consistent. You need to show up and put your best foot forward every day. In doing so, you need to be willing to try new ideas and invest in yourself and your company. Sticking with my vision and not giving up is the most important thing.
Are there any resources or tools you’d like to share with other small business owners that have helped you run your business?
I like the CRM convert kit and Squarespace for websites. They are both easy to manage. If I am in a pinch and a team member isn’t around, I can communicate with clients and make changes to the website. I think any software that enables you to work easily, quickly, and automatically is fantastic to use. I have learned over the years if it isn’t easy to use, pass on it. After all, you are a busy entrepreneur!
Do you have any new projects coming up?
I am launching my Wealth Building Concierge Mastermind. This is a group of women with multiple seven and eight-figure net worth working to brainstorm together, share investment opportunities, think about a deeper meaning related to money, and define legacy and trusts. I love that we will execute plans together and not just talk. We’ll grow more wealth and a greater sense of purpose and meaning. What do you do for fun/relaxation?
I love to travel and ride my electric bike around Austin. I enjoy dinner with friends and my husband. I like to read and go to seminars to learn and grow.
What is the Number One Business Goal you plan to accomplish over the next year?
I’m scaling my company past seven figures. It means more than money to me. It is about the impact and helping more women take control of their finances and grow wealth through real estate.
You want to write a book on … real estate investing for women. I recently released The Millionairess Mentality! In fact, I just wrote it, and you can get it at tamarbook.com . I wrote it because it’s okay for women to have money, they need to buy real estate and must understand how. Can you say, “financially free”? Empowerment over money? No worries about money? For me, that is a book worth reading.
