When Evelyn Ballin hired a local marketing company to bring her vision for The Heart Painter Studio to life, little did she know from the time she opened her doors on September 21, 2010, how many lives she would impact. By following her own heart, despite the challenging economy and allowing her vision from “I paint hearts, floors, walls & furniture” to expand, her mission of helping others live their life to its fullest is coming full circle.
Evelyn was born in Brooklyn, NY, resided in Massachusetts and now considers Florida home where the ocean and has brought her. She started drawing as a child. She discovered she can draw anything and that started her love of art. She would spend countless hours drawing whatever she saw. Her art was put on hold when she entered into Northeastern University where she studied cardiovascular health and exercise. After a three-year career in the Health Sciences, she devoted most of her time raising her two sons, Zac and Jared. As Evelyn’s children were growing up she spent 4 years working on sketching and painting through a correspondence course called The Art Instruction School. The school caught Evelyn’s eye on the back of a matchbook. Remember the “Can you draw this “advertisements? After being accepted into the program the instructors said that if you practice to become an artist people will start asking you to paint for them. That is exactly what happened to Evelyn.
Evelyn established her professional Decorative painting business in 1994 when friends, family, and people they referred were asking her for her services. She paints murals and Trompe L’oeil (fool the eye) features to create warmth and beauty for private residences and commercial spaces. Evelyn created her own line of beautiful and functional home decorative items such as heirloom quality rocking horses, furniture, boxes and clocks as well as Heartfelt paintings to remind us all that We Are Love.
Evelyn became educated in Painting through a variety of methods. Mostly considered a self-taught artist Evelyn has studied in programs across the states and privately tutored by Marilyn Kahn in Sharon Mass., countless classes at the Brockton Museum of Art, the DeCordova Museum in Lincoln Mass., as well as the Faux Effects School for Decorative Artists in Vero Beach, Florida. The study of art techniques is one of Evelyn’s passions.
On Thursday, April 21 from 6-9pm, she will be celebrating her 6 month anniversary at her “heart-centered” studio located at Royal Palm Plaza in Boca Raton, Florida. Her slogan is: Think Love, Know Peace. As a result of standing true to that simple yet powerful statement, one of her vendors and another client of Kreative Braynz Marketing, called the President, Kimberly West with a very generous heartfelt offer.
Michael Wilcox of Fairtrade Fashion Designs is that client. He stated, “Last night I saw your post on Facebook about Evelyn supporting the SOS Children’s Village for your upcoming event. I saw there was a raffle item valued at $150. I thought to myself, they need 10 times that amount and went to bed. I woke up in the middle of the night and saw SOS flash in my mind’s eye. It stayed with me until this morning. I am listening to my gut and donating $1500.00 to SOS to contribute to change the lives of children. Since it’s in line with my mission – jewelry that improves the lives’ of children, it just made sense. Through Evelyn’s purchase to sell our bracelets at her Studio and support of FairTrade Fashion Designs, we are able to provide economic stability to the women & children of Nepal, build schools to educate young minds and bring hope and opportunity to those who are truly less fortunate.” The Wilcox’s will be traveling from the Sarasota area to present the check in person to the CEO of the foundation, who will also be present at the event.
In addition, international singer Amy Barbera will be signing her newly released single “Paint Me a Rainbow” and world renowned Jazz Singer Deborah Paiva & her Jazz Duo will be playing throughout the entire evening. There will be an array of light appetizers and libations for all. The event is FREE to those who register. RSVP’s are required. For more information please contact Kimberly West at (954) 420-9074 or the studio at (561) 544-8158.
