This week’s featured interview is with Covonna Aguillard , CEO – Dynamic Consulting Solutions

This is her story

Tell us about your business

I am the Founder & CEO of a full service business consulting firm based in New Orleans, LA. We provide in person as well as virtual workshops, executive coaching and business development services to organizations and non-profits. Our target audience is mid to large scale corporations and non profits.

Please tell us what being a business owner means to you and why you became an entrepreneur in the first place?

To me being a business is owner is a great way to live purposefully while having the ability to monetize those unique gifts that come along with living a purpose driven life. I became an entrepreneur for that reason among other things. I wanted an opportunity to provide services in the corporate world in my unique way. Having the freedom and flexibility to create business strategies and solutions in partnership with my clients gives me great joy. Seeing the positive outcomes of those strategies is an even bigger accomplishment for me. In addition to that, being able to have control over the things I give my time to, personal flexibility, time to prioritize self-care and being able to take the cap off my earning potential were also significant factors in me choosing this journey.

What or who has been your greatest influence in business and why?

My greatest influence in business at this time is my parents. They instilled the entrepreneurial spirit in me early on. From them securing investment properties to them establishing a brick and mortar shipping company, I frequently look to them for advice and feedback on the pitfalls to avoid as well as ways that I can continue to scale my business.

What would you say is your greatest professional accomplishment to date?

"Covonna Aguillard interview "My biggest professional accomplishment to date was having my business certified as a U. S. government contractor. This was a huge milestone for me as well as a huge milestone for my business. Being listed in the federal contracting system as a vendor opens up so many doors. I wanted to be able to leverage being identified as a disadvantaged group and use that label as an opportunity to increase my business’ visibility  and revenue.

What’s the best advice you have received in business that you wish to pass on to our readers?

The best advice that I have received is to give my business to God. I know we all have our own belief system, but for me, aligning my business practices with my personal faith keeps me grounded and helps me to maintain the values of my business that I cherish so much. Faith, Integrity, Service, Growth and Success.

What has been the most effective marketing initiatives or programs you have used to promote your business?

My most effective marketing initiative is simply providing quality service to my clientele. I am blessed to run a business that has 95% referral-based clients. That speaks volumes to me in a world where business marketing these days is mostly social media driven. I pride myself in service as a personal purpose of mine, so providing that quality, results-based service that turns into a referral is the biggest advertisement I can receive.

What one thing have you learned as a small business owner that has served you well over the years?

One thing I learned as a small business that will always be relevant is to continue to do the work and do it well and the clients will come. No matter how you feel, get up, get dressed and show up every day giving the world the best version of yourself.

Are there any resources or tools you’d like to share with other small business owners that have helped you run your business?

SBA.gov is an amazing and free resource

Any local business chamber

And whatever your belief system you hold sign up for a subscription for their daily motivation and encouragement

And also a mentor who is on the level you aspire to reach

What is Number One Business Goal you plan to accomplish over the next year?

Over the next year I am planning to expand to a second headquarters in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. Much of my business is in that area and it’s a great city to grow and expand as an entrepreneur.

In addition to that I am in the process of establishing a nonprofit that is directly connected to the work I do with Dynamic. The Dynamic Success Foundation’s mission is to Build a pathway to success for underserved youth and young adults.
