The purpose of this fundraiser is to raise money for a special “mission” to Rome on June 23, 2011. Women in Jazz is an International Honor Committee member of Donne in Musica in Rome and Fiuggi, Italy. Through that affiliation, a special liaison was created between Lauderhill, FL and Fiuggi, Italy for a Sister City twinning. According to Joan Cartwright, Founder of Women in Jazz, “Mayor Richard Kaplan has been invited by Mayor Fabrizio Martini to visit Fiuggi in June and two members of Women in Jazz will be part of his delegation to discuss the twinning and a cultural exchange in 2012-2013, once the Lauderhill Performing Arts Center is built. This partnership will benefit the cultural and business community in Broward County, overall.
