Galeries Lafayette
Located at 40 Boulevard Haussmann in Paris, this department store is on my list of suggestions when visiting Paris. Why a department store? More than location, more than cutting edge fashion in a city where fashion is a must, more than the Lafayette Gourmet with its outstanding artisan gourmet foods, you have to check out the ceiling.
And the architecture…elegant Belle Epoque architecture, to be exact. The dramatic glass dome in all its stunning colors shines down on you even on a cloudy day. Winding your way up the Art Nouveau staircase your views change as you wind closer to the top.
First inaugurated in 1893 the Galeries Lafayette is a Paris institution.
