The reality is that most of us barely make it through completing an insufficient number of work related tasks, sustain poorly relationships, miss some important life events and take care of ourselves last. Then stress settles in and life seems unmanageable, not even close to what we dreamed when we started our small business. Something needs to be done, but where to start?
Imagine life having ample time to run your small business, build ever-growing profits, enjoy an intimate relationship with your partner, spend time with your kids and take care of yourself? As small business owners, most of us would shake our heads and mutter “I wish!”
How about starting by admitting that we basically tend to be over optimistic of what actually is possible to be done within the time available. We can agree that we over-commit, couldn’t we? What if we pencil down realistic goals corresponding to true times required to complete each goal or promise for each day?
Starting with the next few days, take the calendar out, consider the true times needed for each activity and start scheduling.
Remember, you simply cannot work 24 hours a day. It is macabre to think that you will “rest when you are dead!” We all agree that if we continue on the path of far too much to do and too much stress, we are simply going to burn out. We can not continue to be resentful of the load of work and responsibilities or guilty of missing important events.
What if we schedule time for rest and time for ourselves? Undoubtedly, we will not only refuel the engines but rejuvenate our relationships and enjoyment of our life – and THAT becomes creativity and a bottom-line win, believe it or not.
You can boost your profitability in the next four weeks!
