So, you are now a new mom. Your whole world seems to have changed with the introduction of new routines, breastfeeding and having to soothe a screaming baby. Everything seems to be all over the place. To maintain some calm and make the whole experience fulfilling, you will need to equip yourself with some tips. Here are some essential baby care tips you should know:

Bond with your baby

It is necessary to form a connection with your baby. Physical closeness is an effective way to build an emotional connection. The attachment does a lot for the baby’s emotional health and contributes to development in other aspects of their lives. Cradle your little one. Hold your baby against your skin when feeding them. Maintain eye contact with them when breastfeeding . Massaging is also an excellent way to bond with your baby. It helps to soothe your bay and improves blood circulation and digestion. Be gentle when massaging your baby. They are not as strong as you. Talk, babble and sing for them.

Handle the baby with care

Babies have very delicate bodies. Handle them with utmost care. Hold them carefully in your arms, supporting their head since they do not have the best neck strength in the first three months of their lives.

Tummy time

Tummy time is crucial for development. It helps with head control and boosting neck strength. Place your baby on their tummy on a soft surface. Do that about three times a day. While they are on the floor, keep them entertained. Alternatively, you could do tummy time on your chest to encourage bonding.

Buy comfortable clothing

Baby clothes can be cute. However, that should not be the only factor you consider when buying clothes for your baby. Select comfortable clothes. Clothe your baby in soft, stretchable pieces that do not require much of a hassle to put on. Do not just buy clothes in their sizes. Stock up on sizes since babies grow so fast.

Go for quality baby products.

Baby skin is sensitive. It is easy for babies to develop rashes and irritation. Use quality baby skincare products and baby bath supplies . Go for products that are fragrance-free and free of harsh, unnecessary additives. That will go a long way towards keeping allergy triggers at bay.

Create a schedule

Having your baby on a schedule makes things easier for the both of you. Your baby will not be too overwhelmed since they know what to expect. It will also be easier for you to plan your day. Feed, bathe and ensure that he sleeps at regular times.

Trim nails regularly

Babies’ nails grow so fast. When they are long, the baby may scratch their faces or bodies as they move their hands. Trim their nails to keep them safe. Be gentle and avoid trimming the nails too deeply. Get a baby nail clipper since their nails are soft. Also, you have to clip your nails regularly as well. You do not want to dig into your baby’s delicate skin accidentally.

Final remarks

As a new mom, it may be a challenge taking care of a baby. More so in the first few days. There will be days when you look in awe and marvel at your tiny miracle. There will also be days that you will doubt your mom’s abilities. Through it all, remember to take care of yourself and never be shy to ask for help when you need it.
