This is off subject, but I was wondering if the previous comment was made by a old college friend. Did Alexis Garfield go to NIU in the 60's?

Catherine - Oftentimes we are unaware of how our social networking habits could affect our current employment or future job search. This was an eye opener – Thanks!

Catherine, thanks for bringing this full circle for me. I'm 40 and very cautious about my on-line photos and wording. Everything I post I choose to keep professional regardless of the forum. I often wonder how someone in the younger crowd can back-track the harm they create in the moment and frequently but I believe, naively. You've offered some great advice!

Very informative article, and on the money. TIME magazine in its February 15, 2010 issue reports that 70% of human resources officers "say they have rejected job applicants for inappropriate material in online social-networking profiles."

Thanks, Heidi, for posting Catherine's article. Very, very valid points! To a great extent, personally and professionally, we are all under a microscope when it comes to the internet -- like it or not. Griping about the workplace and airing dirty laundry are best left to kitchen table conversations. And we all need to accept the fact that burning bridges over the world wide web only leads to big regret. Hindsight is always 20/20. :-)
